this scale does what a scale should do, as in weigh things, but I'm a little puzzled about the recharging function, since I can't understand what the code messages are and there is no manual available in the online information, or at least nothing that I can find. I really don't know if the unit is being charged from the USB port or not, since it didn't seem to take a charge when I plugged it in. trying it now with my desktop Mac and will see . . .
I find it's a bit quick to shut off the display if you leave it alone for a minute, and I have trouble figuring out if a tare wt setting is in the memory or not after it's been sitting for a few minutes between weighings. Probably adequate for the price ($35 CAD at Canadian Tire at the moment, so it just depends what you need in the kitchen, I guess.
