Bought the 12-piece Vida Elite Series at Canadian Tire knowing Paderno is made in Canada and a quality item. Opened the box to find they felt cheap and thin/lightweight. Gave them a wash and tried out the larger pan to make a few pancakes - they stuck to the pan which we found odd. We cooked on medium-low heat with butter like normal. Looked at the box to make sure we bought the right item and found it's made in China!! WTF?
We don't support chinese-made products because they're cheap, thin, weak and sadly we don't trust the source materials to ensure food grade materials are used.
Checked on the website and found Paderno and Vida are two separate sites and there's no mention of made in China on the Vida site while the Paderno site proudly displays that they're made in Canada since 1979.
We're not paying $250 for cheap chinese junk. These are going back to the store and we'll look at the Canadian and USA made brands which we know and like. Shame on Paderno for putting out a cheap line without saying it's not made in Canada. Seems quite underhanded to make a version with the Paderno name on the box and not say anything where it's made.
Not impressed.
